USCG MSU Baton Rouge contacted their NOAA SSC to request a precautionary “what if” trajectory for a 5 bbl spill of Doba Blend crude oil near Baton Rouge, LA at MM232 on the Lower Mississippi River. The spill occurred at the 0345 hours (local) on 05-SEP-2012 at an Exxon facility on the Left Descending Bank. Presently, most of the product is contained near the release location, so MSU Baton Rouge requested a precautionary trajectory estimate in the event some product is lost from containment prior to the conclusion of cleanup operations.
